Zoro Funk

Zoro Funk - John Dooley - Bass, Praphat "Whan" Dechachutinan - Drums, Guntrung Jantimathawn - Guitar, Teerapoj "Bump" Plitakul - Keyboard, Yan - Saxophone

Sometime over the past year my good friend and teacher Pebber Brown
sent me an electronic drum track he was playing with and asked me to lay a bass track over it.

I forget how we came up with the project code name "Zoro Funk" but I'll blame it on Pebber.

Around November of 2010 I got an email request from Marine Caillat, a recording arts student at SAE Bangkok for material for an upcoming project.

The first call I made was to my drummer buddy Praphat Dechachutinan, "Whan" and sent him over the digital track.

Next, we called in Guntrung Jantimathawn, young Thai guitarist son of Nga Caravan
. Guntrung's got the additional good fortune of being a protégé of guitarist Pong of Adhere 13th Blues Bar in Bangkok.

Next came Teerapoj "Bump" Plitakul, Keyboard and Yan, Saxophonist...

Here's what we came up with:

KWB - Yeun

We finally published the first single of the latest Kay Wara Band Album, "Yeun", ("to stand" in Thai). In addition to regular members; Jiroaj (Kay) Warakulnukroh on slide guitar and vocals, Karun Ramart on Harp, John Dooley on bass and Pornchai Janem on drums, the song features "Boy" on lead vocal.

The existing cuts, (including "Yeun"), were recorded at Music Bug and the old Carabao studio on Rama IX Road. We've got a studio time commitment for May at Sexy Pink in Bangkok.

This and all the cuts are mastered Wally of Wally Sound in Oakland, California.

We distributed the song to a lot of online hosts including iTunes.
